NORTH PORT — Christine Robinson, executive director of the The Argus Foundation, was honored Thursday by the North Port Area Chamber of Commerce with the 2018 Business Advocate Hall of Fame Award.

The award is given to a community member who displays outstanding business advocacy.

“It’s an incredible honor to be acknowledge by the chamber for the largest city in Sarasota County,” Robinson said. “I look forward to continuing my business advocacy, which improves our quality of life.”

Before joining The Argus Foundation, Robinson served six years on the Sarasota County Commission where she exercised restraints in budgeting and spending. She focused on reducing regulations to enable small businesses to thrive and continues to work toward that goal at The Argus Foundation.

Through The Argus Foundation, Robinson recently advocated for the defeat of the public service tax, which would have greatly impacted the workforce in the Sarasota County area.

“(Robinson) has enhanced life as we know it in North Port,” said Jill Luke, the North Port Chamber’s previous president. “The essence of her is stamped within the community, whether the business sector, the government sector or the personal life sector.”
