Corporate partnerships provide a lasting investment in the community. Two years ago, FCCI Insurance Group (FCCI) had the vision to partner with Habitat for Humanity Sarasota through the Community Contribution Tax Credit Program (CCTCP). This tax credit program is designed to encourage private investment within Florida Enterprise Zones, assist low-income housing projects in Florida and promote volunteerism.
The need for affordable housing in Sarasota has sky rocketed and Habitat Sarasota has an aggressive build schedule to provide 66 homes over the next four years. “The lack of affordable housing and the overall cost of housing in Sarasota County is taking a toll on our working families in many ways. They are stressed with the financial burden of paying more than 50-75% of their income toward rent. When parents are financially strained, their children feel it too. Inadequate living conditions cause these children to struggle in school which results in a perpetual cycle of poverty.” says Renee Snyder, executive director.
