U.S. Sen. Rick Scott will be in Sarasota on April 12 to speak to the Argus Foundation, his first public appearance in the region since winning a Senate seat.

Scott served eight years as governor before unseating Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson in November.

President Donald Trump recently said Scott was helping the White House craft a GOP health care plan, but Trump subsequently backed away from pushing a comprehensive health care bill before the 2020 election. Scott has said that he's focused on bringing down prescription drug prices.

Scott will appear at a lunch event at Michael's on East that begins at 11:15 a.m. For tickets visit argusfoundation.org or call 941-365-4886. The cost is $65 for Argus members and $75 for non-members.
