Dear Sarasota Retiree:

The Argus Foundation is compiling a register of the names of approximately 1,500 - 2,000 retired men and women living in Sarasota along with their occupations immediately prior to retirement.

Sarasota's retired population has had invaluable, first-hand experiences and contacts in all sectors of American industry and the professions. When public policy issues are being formulated, city and county officials need to be able to seek out and learn of the views of senior citizens whose work histories are pertinent to the issues being examined. At present, this information is not available.

The purpose of the Argus register is to be able to offer local government and business leaders, those who determine and develop the economic and social programs that shape the future of the area, information about retirees' pre-retirement careers that may be meaningful to their discussions and negotiations.

By filling out the brief, attached questionnaire, you will provide Argus the means to set up a Register of Sarasota Retirees. With this data base, local government and business leaders will be able to locate and invite Sarasota retirees whose pre-retirement careers appear to be relevant to participate in public policy discussions and negotiations.

Neither your name nor contact information will be given out without your express permission. In compiling the data base we do so in the hope that as community issues arise to which your experience might be beneficial in helping to make better public decisions, that your thoughts and ideas could be made available in an anonymous fashion through The Argus Foundation, or you could choose to participate directly in the public dialogue. In either case by becoming a member of our retiree data base your privacy and wishes as to the manner of your participation will forever be the foundation of the operating principals of our agreement. This in fact has been the basis of The Argus Foundation membership since its founding in 1983, and continues to be in force today.
